Preproduction Documentation

We can help you obtain the following administrative documentation to produce your title:
- Catalog in Publication Data Block (CIP) - For authors who have already published at least three books or the
Publisher's Cataloging in Publication (PCIP) - For authors who have published less than three books
A CIP or a PCIP data block provides detailed Library of Congress information on the copyright page of your book. This information helps librarians process new titles more rapidly and economically. - U.S. Copyright Office Registration
To ensure the protection of your book under U.S. Copyright law, Avenegg, Inc. will assist you in registering your book with the United States Copyright Office. Once registered, the copyright protects everything in your book except your title for your lifetime plus 50 years. - Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN)
A Library of Congress catalog card number is an identification number that the Library of Congress assigns to the catalog record created for each book in its collection. Approximately 20,000 libraries worldwide use the Library of Congress catalog service to locate and acquire new titles. Avenegg, Inc. will submit a copy of your book to the Library of Congress for its permanent collection and request a catalog card number for your book. - Bookland EAN Bar Code with the Price Code Extension
The bar code identifies the ISBN, which identifies the publisher, title, author and edition. The price of the book is located in the Price Code area. If you want your book considered a professional publication in the industry, you will need a bar code. - International Standard Book Number (ISBN)
The ISBN is a worldwide identification system that identifies the published product (i.e., book, audiotape, CD, online publication). Many dealers will not accept a book without an ISBN.
Editorial Services

Give your readers a polished manuscript with our publishing editorial services. Our editing associates are prolific writers themselves and have years of experience in the field.
- Basic Proofreading
A proofreader checks your manuscript to correct basic errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax. - Copy Editing
Our editor reads your manuscript to review the corrections made in the proofread. During this process, the editor also checks the manuscript for unity, coherence, soundness of reasoning and other qualities essential to expressing ideas effectively. The editor adds queries and recommends specific changes to your manuscript. The editor delivers the feedback to you in a laser copy or in an electronic format. - Prepress Proofreading
When you are ready to send your manuscript to the printer, the Prepress Proofreader reviews your manuscript in book form for any additional errors in content and design and layout. (If you select Prepress Editing, you must also select one of the other editing services.)
Our editing associates use The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition when reviewing your manuscript. They are also experienced in using the APA (American Psychological Association) and the MLA (Modern Language Association) style guides.
